Hoffman Equipment hosted a Drive-Thru Equipment Show March 15 at its Marlboro, N.Y., facility.
The very well attended event started out with coffee and donuts but the focus soon turned to equipment. Several manufacturer representatives discussed their companies’ various types of equipment. Case displayed the SV300 and TV380 skid steers, which are on New York State contract (Case also has wheel loaders that are available on contract, as well.) Ben Allgyer of the Paladin Group showed off his company’s vulture and ground shark attachments. LeeBoy touted the 8515B paver, which made the company a player on the map with that sized paver. LeeBoy then rolled through its Force Feed Loader, which the company purchased from Athey in 2001. Guests were allowed to test the equipment, as well.
Following the Equipment Drive-Thru, Kelly McAllister of National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) provided a highly informative presentation on bidding and contracts. NJPA a national municipal contracting agency committed to servicing its members purchasing needs.
John Yelt of Dig Safely New York had some encouraging comments on how New York has been digging more safely and experiencing fewer accidents each year.
Tim Watters, president and CEO of Hoffman Equipment, and Mark Padoleski of Case discussed the manufacturer’s new SiteWatch three-year advanced subscription plan. According to Case, beginning in 2013, select heavy equipment models will come standard with SiteWatch, which, it says, will help to make fleet management easier by providing measurable and actionable information. Case said that two levels of SiteWatch subscriptions will be available: basic and advanced. The SiteWatch server will collect, compile and store 18 months of data, allowing users to analyze trends. Data also can be downloaded and saved in a spreadsheet.
A local restaurant catered the event. Guests enjoyed sliced London broil, sausage and peppers, along with meatballs. And finally, Hoffman Equipment raffled off a slew of door prizes that included jackets, sweatshirts, t-shirts and scale models.
According to Dave Koch, Hoffman Equipment paving specialist, this year marked the most successful Drive-Thru event, yet, and the company expects it grow in ensuing years.
