Hoffman Equipment hosted an open house Oct. 16 at its Piscataway, N.J., facility.

Approximately 200 customers and guests from New Jersey and nearby New York City enjoyed the daylong event. The focal point of the open house — and certainly the most impressive — was demonstrations of the new Manitowoc MLC300 crane in action.

The MLC300 features 315 ft. (96 m) of boom and can be easily transported with optimized component weights and dimensions. The crane uses Manitowoc’s FACT connection technology, which automatically aligns components for fast and easy assembly. The MLC300 also features 330-ton (299 t) capacity.

The MLC300’s lifting prowess was exhibited during the event when it hoisted an 81,000-lb. Grove RT600E rough-terrain crane with ease.

“We had a great turnout … and we all got to see something that had never been seen before in New Jersey and New York — the Manitowoc MLC300 put through its paces in a very impressive way,” said Tim Watters, president and CEO of Hoffman Equipment. “It tossed the Grove [RT600E] around the yard like a feather.”

Watters added that the MLC300 demonstrations proved so successful that Hoffman Equipment has been arranging several demonstrations for area contractors on their job sites since the open house.

Hoffman Equipment also highlighted Grove’s new product line of crawler hydraulic cranes, such as the GHC75, 75-ton crane, which was on display, and as a result of the event, Watters said that the company received a purchase order for the Grove GHC.

Watters called the open house a big success. “It as a beautiful day, the sun was shining and the food was great,” he said. “Everything was a hit and everyone had a great time.”
