Hoffman Equipment Co., of Piscataway, NJ, has been named the full-service dealer for Manitowoc and Grove cranes.

According to Tim Watters, president of Hoffman Equipment Co., this appointment allows the company to greatly expand the breadth of its crane offerings. “Grove purchased Krupp and added the GMK Series to their line and Grove was then acquired by Manitowoc. The end result is that we will be able to provide our customers with the right crane for virtually any job,” Watters said.

Hoffman’s territory will encompass the entire state of New Jersey, New York City, Long Island, and counties surrounding the metropolitan area, including Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam.

In addition, the company is the exclusive dealer in New Castle County, DE, and Philadelphia, PA, as well as Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, Chester and Berks Counties, and the Lehigh Valley in PA.

The Grove line includes a wide selection of mobile hydraulic cranes, ranging from 8.5 to 550 tons (7.6 to 495 t), including the full rough-terrain crane series and GMK all-terrain series that Grove acquired when it purchased Krupp, as well as the YB series of compact industrial cranes.

Hoffman Equipment also will carry the full Manitowoc line, including the new 200 ton (180 t) 777. Manitowoc produces cranes ranging in capacities from 80 tons (72 t) to more than 1,000 tons (900 t).

Founded in 1920, Hoffman Equipment Co. has been in the business of selling and servicing cranes for more than half a century. According to Tim Watters, Hoffman was one of the pioneers in the application of high-capacity cranes, acquiring its first one in the early ’40s and eventually operating a fleet of 60 cranes including 10, 300 toners.

“With our long history, we know the crane business inside and out, and we’re uniquely qualified to handle the Grove and Manitowoc lines,” Watters said.

Hoffman’s service and parts departments offer complete customer support. The company’s factory-trained mechanics, advanced tooling and modern facilities make for fast and reliable service, and its 15,000-sq.-ft. parts warehouse provides a one-stop supermarket for replacement parts.

Hoffman recently opened a branch in Holtsville, Long Island, giving Grove/Manitowoc owners in New York a much more convenient parts/service facility than has been seen since Manitowoc Forsythe closed its doors in 1992.

In Philadelphia, Hoffman plans to open a full-service branch in the future. Currently, Hoffman employs several technicians in that area who can provide product support.

In addition to Grove and Manitowoc, Hoffman Equipment Co., also is the authorized distributor of several other lines of construction equipment, including Dynapac, Daewoo, JCB, Rosco and others.
