On May 19, 2019, Howell Tractor & Equipment LLC hosted customers and guests at the Indy 500 Pole Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
During the event, customers and guests enjoyed the Mi-Jack hospitality suite (#34) while watching the racers on the track. Mi-Jack Products is the parent company of Howell Tractor and Equipment run by President Mike Lanigan, who also is co-owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing with Bobby Rahal and David Letterman.
Guests watched as Team Rahal Letterman Lanigan (RLL) drivers Graham Rahal, #15; Takuma Sato, #30; and Jordan King, #42, competed on the famous oval as they set the starting grid for this year's 103rd running of the world-renowned Indy 500 on Sunday, May 26. Sato started 14th, Rahal started 17th and King started 26th.
Rahal, whose father is legendary racer Bobby Rahal, has been competing professionally since 2003 and made his debut in the IndyCar Series in 2008.
Sato, born in Tokyo, Japan, rejoined RLL in August 2017.
The all-day event included three tours, an in-suite lunch, several practice and qualifying rounds and the Verizon P1 Award Ceremony.
As for the race, Simon Pagenaud took the checkered flag on May 26. Sato finished third, King finished 24th and Rahal finished 27th.
The Indy 500 took 2:50:39.2797 to complete by the winner, Pagenaud, with an average speed of 166.935 mph. Scott Dixon clocked the fastest lap at 226.006 mph. There were a total of 29 lead changes and 29 caution laps during the race.
Rahal averaged 187.216 mph; Sato averaged 175.788 mph; and King averaged 173.747 mph. Rahal took five pit stops, while Sato and King both took eight.
