Hydraulics Express, a subsidiary of Carolina CAT, is dedicated to what it knows best –– hydraulics.
With more than 75 years of hydraulics experience, the company, based in Charlotte, NC, is a separate entity of its parent company, enabling it to extend its reach beyond the construction industry. The company services all makes and models of off-road construction equipment, industrial production equipment and mobile equipment, such as dump trucks, garbage trucks, roll backs and wreckers.
Hydraulics Express moved into its current 19,000-sq.-ft. facility in 1999, after growing out of the previous one, said Product Support Sales Manager Pat Duncan. With 12 technicians, each with a minimum of five years hands-on experience and factory training, the company is able to service any size hydraulic cylinder, pump or motor.
Primarily servicing western North Carolina, Hydraulics Express runs a shuttle truck every night from Greensboro, Asheville and Hickory.
“We have the fastest turnaround time on hydraulic repairs in western North Carolina,” said Duncan.
The company has an average turnaround time of one to two days for most cylinders, pumps and motors, with its extensive transportation system and multi-shift operation.
Over the years, the hydraulics operation of Carolina CAT (formerly Carolina Tractor) has experienced tremendous growth. The present is no exception, as Duncan forecasts continued success in the future.
Hydraulics Express continues to add new lines to its repair capabilities, with a goal to be its customers’ one source for hydraulic solutions. Most recently, the company signed an agreement to be a factory-authorized Rexroth pump repair facility and sent two technicians to Germany for factory training, said Duncan.
With a $300,000 parts inventory, the company offers a parts exchange program that includes Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi, Link-Belt and Kobelco construction equipment. By selling exchange parts, it further reduces turnaround time and costs, said Duncan.
“The hydraulics business itself is growing rapidly as there are more hydraulics-based machines,” he said. “With our investment in people, products, tooling and facilities, Hydraulics Express is committed to providing top quality service to our customers. Thanks to a growing market and unmatched ability to supply our customers with everything they need, our future is very bright.”
Hydraulics Express is located at 6605 W. W.T. Harris Blvd. in Charlotte.
Carolina CAT operates in 46 counties in western North Carolina. Headquartered in Charlotte, the company has facilities in Greensboro, Asheville, Hickory and Monroe. Its customers include earth-moving contractors, landscape contractors, utility contractors, utility suppliers, paving contractors, landfills, hospitals, manufacturing companies, warehousing and distribution companies, data centers, large truck fleets and agricultural facilities.
