ICUEE 2017 will be here before you know it, and with a record size of 28 acres to hold over 900 exhibitors, this year's show is sure to be a great one.

“ICUEE comes around only once every two years, and record exhibit space translates to more product innovations on the show floor, so don't miss out,” said Show Director Tricia Mallett. “We've got plenty of transportation to get attendees around all the lots, a streamlined layout and plenty of rest areas!”

Here's a roundup of some key highlights to look forward to as the exhibition draws near:

  • ICUEE 2017's “field classrooms” will allow attendees to see the industry's best practices up close in a series of education sessions. Ten 90-minute walk-around sessions will center on aerial devices, fleet management, high voltage transmission technology, horizontal directional drilling and vacuum excavation. “Education really ramps up the value of ICUEE for attendees; they have convenient access to a variety of quality industry-focused sessions to gain knowledge that improves their job performance and helps their companies succeed,” said Rick Rodier, ICUEE 2017 chair and vice president and general manager of the Sitework Systems Division of The Toro Company.
  • The ICUEE Demo Stage will include over 20 different 20-minute exhibitor demonstrations to show off product innovations and best practices. In addition, the Test Drive Zone features a two-mile track to try out on-road equipment and technologies.
  • The exposition will host iP Utility Safety Conference and the Utility Fleet Conference, both Oct. 2 to 4; and will provide certification opportunities through the Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification program and the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) certification exams.
  • On Oct. 4, Gretchen Bakke, author of 'The Grid: The Fraying Wires Between Americans' will appear as a featured speaker during a special luncheon to share her views on “the diverse people and ideas that are coming together to build the next generation electrical infrastructure,” ICUEE said. ICUEE's owner and producer Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and Terex Utilities have partnered together to host the luncheon. Afterwards, a meet-and-greet book signing with Bakke will take place at the AEM Booth #3340.
  • AEM will host a series of 'Tomorrow's Topics Today' sessions at Booth #3340. The program is a companion to the group's 'Thinking Forward' series, which focuses on trends and technological developments that are impacting equipment manufacturing in various ways.
  • Sessions include 'Women Energizing the Utility Industry,' where a panel of leaders will discuss their thoughts on the opportunities and challenges women face in an industry that is only 23 percent female; and 'An Under-40 Success Story,' featuring Ernie Stephens Superior Construction corporate equipment manager of a $60 million fleet, as well as a networking opportunity for young industry professionals. Other topics covered include drone use; live wearables; utility market forecasts; rural broadband and smart farms; technology and its industry impact; and a look forward at Capitol Hill's renewed focus on utility infrastructure.

  • ICUEE 2017 will have exhibit pavilions set up for fleet management, safety and green utilities, Chinese and Korean pavilions and the Lift Safety Zone, a special exhibit from NCCCO.
  • ICUEE, J.J. Kane Auctions and Call of Duty Endowment (CODE) have partnered together to help connect military veterans with industry jobs. To support the cause, the groups will host a silent and live benefit auction.
  • One hundred percent of the ICUEE Benefit Auction proceeds will support the Call of Duty Endowment, a national organization that helps military veterans find high quality jobs by supporting groups that prepare them for the job market and raising awareness of the value that veterans bring to the workplace.

CODE has funded the placement of over 34,000 veterans, with the goal of placing 50,000 veterans in jobs by 2019. Every $619 raised by the group helps a veteran get a good job.

Online bidding will begin on Sept. 5. The auction has no minimums and no reserves. All items will be sold. Auction items will include a hunting trip, hotel stays, equipment rental opportunities, advertising space, electronics, tools and more.

The live auction will be held at ICUEE on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 12 p.m.

    Don't Forget the App

No doubt there's a lot to see at ICUEE, but with the ICUEE mobile app, attendees can organize and plan their visit before they arrive. The app, presented by John Deere, allows users to create their own schedule of exhibits, education sessions and networking meetings. In addition, the app contains an online exhibitor directory complete with floor plans and the ability to search by company name, product or market area, booth number and location. The directory also allows users to preview new products and technologies. The app continuously syncs to ICUEE's planner agenda to keep users up-to-date while in attendance. Finally, users can play the ICUEE app game for the chance to win prizes in daily drawings.

ICUEE 2017 will be held Oct. 3 to 5, 2017 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.
