Often used by sanitation and public works departments, grapple trucks consist of a hydro-mechanical device that rotates on an axis to collect waste that is impractical to containerize due to its size and/or weight. Also used in road construction and repair, grapple trucks can sometimes include a dump body. Other systems include: rear steer system, where the grapple loader is mounted on the rear of a short frame chassis; rolloff system, where the grapple loader is mounted behind a truck cab; rear-mounted loader and haul truck system; rear-mounted loader and trailer system; and transfer system. Grapple truck manufacturers include Freightliner, International, Peterbilt, GMC, Volvo and Sterling. Grapple trucks for sale can be found on Construction Equipment Guide’s website.
