J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers, a division of Somerset Welding & Steel Inc., and a leading manufacturer of dump bodies, trailers, and specialty truck equipment, has announced the appointment of Mike Long as director of Asian Sales.

In this capacity, Long will be responsible for overseeing J&J’s interests in the Asian market and will promote and sell dump truck bodies, trailers and specialized truck equipment to mining, construction and oil companies.

In addition, he will concentrate on municipal agencies throughout the Asia-Pacific rim, with special emphasis in the Chinese market. He also will work with the company’s marketing department in promoting the company’s full line of products by developing customer-focused and market-driven strategies that will increase brand awareness and solidify J&J’s leadership position within the Asia-Pacific region.

Most recently, Long served as a sales representative of J&J Truck Equipment, another division of Somerset Welding & Steel. He brings with him more than 26 years in the truck equipment manufacturing industry including 13 years working with customers within the Asian market.

“The rapid development of construction and coal related industries in this part of the world offers J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers an opportunity to increase market share and broaden our existing customer base in the international arena. Mike Long’s past experience in traveling to the region makes him an ideal candidate for this position,” said S. William Riggs, president of Somerset Welding & Steel.

Beginning this fall, Long will move to Hohhot, a conveniently centralized location in China that will allow him to travel to various parts of that country and other Asian countries as well. He will work with American truck manufacturers to provide J&J customers with the truck bodies and equipment necessary to meet their rapidly increasing demands.
