The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) recently honored JLG Industries Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company and a global manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telehandlers, with its Pillar of the Industry award. This award recognizes a company's work to improve the business environment for the equipment manufacturing industry.

AEM presented the award to JLG during its annual conference Nov.1-3, in Palm Beach, Fla., citing JLG's efforts this year to advocate for pro-manufacturing solutions to elected leaders and voters and for its participation in AEM's “I Make America” grassroots program.

“With a new Congress and administration in Washington this year, equipment manufacturers did a better job than ever at communicating our industry's priorities to our elected leaders,” said AEM President Dennis Slater. “AEM is thrilled to honor JLG Industries as a Pillar of the Industry for their outstanding commitment to advancing policy priorities essential to the equipment manufacturing industry.”

Frank Nerenhausen, executive vice president of Oshkosh Corporation and president of JLG Industries Inc., accepted the award on behalf of JLG.

“We are honored to be recognized by AEM and proud to be part of the work they do on behalf of equipment manufacturers. I can't overstate the importance of staying informed and taking an active role in the political process to advocate for our industry and the thousands of jobs it supports.”

The November award presentations coincided with the seventh anniversary of AEM's successful “I Make America” campaign, AEM's principal grassroots advocacy program that engages AEM member companies and their employees to become champions for the industry on manufacturing issues.
