Kawasaki is introducing two new wheel loader models into the compact loader market. The new Kawasaki models, the 42ZV-2, a 0.78 cu. yd. (.6 cu m) loader, and the 45ZV-2, a 1.18 cu. yd. (.9 cu m) loader, are designed and engineered with all of the performance and reliability of the larger Kawasaki wheel loaders, but in a smaller package, according to the manufacturer.

With Tier IV interim emissions-compliant Kubota engines, heavy box frames and a well balanced design, these compact Kawasaki wheel loaders provide stable, reliable operation. For operators there is a walk-through cab design, easy-read monitors and the rubber-mounted cab is engineered to reduce noise and vibration. It also has a suspension seat, and pillar-less full length windows.

With a high ground speed, the 45ZV-2 features an electronically controlled hydrostatic powertrain providing quick, smooth acceleration. The wrap-around counterweight allows for a very stable, well balanced loader.

65Z Hybrid Wheel Loader

The 65Z hybrid wheel loader is Kawasaki’s first entry into the hybrid market.

There is no “oil filled” torque converter in the new 65Z hybrid wheel loader. Through the use of HYTCs (hybrid torque converter system) the loader not only saves power but regenerates energy during idle and braking. During the initial acceleration or idle periods, energy loss generated in the torque converter is converted to electric energy and then stored in the capacitor. The capacitor will charge and discharge electric energy instantaneously rather than the delayed delivery of a conventional battery. The stored energy is then used by the motor/generator to assist the engine, therefore requiring a smaller engine, resulting in fuel savings.

Kawasaki will debut two of its new Tier IV wheel loaders, the 85Z7 (221 hp, 4.8 cu.yd. [165 kW, 3.6 cu m]) and 90Z7 (280 hp, 5.5 cu.yd. [208 kW, 4.2 cu m]).

The Z7 generation of wheel loaders is not just an extension of previous generations, it is a complete reengineering of every aspect of the wheel loader, from design, to operator comfort, safety, performance, efficiency and much more, according to the manufacturer.
