Kenworth's new 40-in. sleeper is now available for order with either the T880 or T680.

Kenworth's 40-in. sleeper with the T880 is suitable in vocational applications that use straight trucks, such as petroleum haulers or the tow industry, and for tractors that transport flatbeds, lowboys or other trailers where length and weight are a factor. The sleeper also is a good fit in the Kenworth T680 for regional bulk haulers who prefer to operate a highly fuel-efficient tractor. The sleeper provides a 260-lb. weight savings compared to Kenworth's 52-in. regional sleeper for additional benefits.

The 40-in. sleeper has a compact, yet comfortable sleeping environment and optimal storage. A 24-in. wide by 78-in. long, liftable bunk with 90-degree tilt offers easy access to under bunk storage. The sleeper provides more than 22 cu. ft. of storage space to handle gear for occasional stays in the sleeper, and has storage shelves and a cell phone cubby. The interior includes coat hooks specifically designed to hold hardhats as well as coats. There are two standard toolbox doors. Fleets and truck operators may specify the Diamond VIT or Vantage interior.

To help drivers operating in tight locations, three optional 19-in. by 36-in. stationary or sliding windows are available on the back of the sleeper. Some additional options include LED marker lights, extreme temperature insulation, premium speakers, side extenders, stainless steel sunvisor, and 19-in. by 12-in. outboard windows.

“Kenworth's expanded and enhanced sleeper lineup for the T880 and T680 gives our customers greater flexibility and choice in meeting their specific application requirements, while also providing driver comfort in a lighter weight sleeper package. The 40-inch sleeper has generated interest from our customers from the minute we announced it was under development,” said Kurt Swihart, Kenworth marketing director.

Both the T880 and T680 are now available with the new PACCAR MX-11 engine rated up to 430 hp and 1,550 lb-ft of torque.
