Key Equipment Sales & Rentals Inc., a growing regional provider of contractor and industrial lift equipment serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, has seen growth in several of aspects of its business, which include a new place, new faces and a new equipment line.

In May 2011 Key Equipment opened its newest branch in Williamsport, Pa. This facility serves Key’s new and existing clients working in north central Pennsylvania and southern New York State. Mark Maddy is overseeing operations for Key in Williamsport. Steve Baney, a veteran mechanic and driver, is serving as Williamsport’s service manger and Derrick Scott is the local sales representative.

Brian Funk, Key’s president, is pleased with the progress so far and stated that, “In a few months we have managed to establish our role in the greater Williamsport market. Our focus on Lifting People and Materials has resulted in sales and rental activity in our core markets of industry, commercial construction and Marcellus support. We plan to expand our rental presence and are looking to add quality people to our growing operation. Williamsport is a great town and I am excited to be a part of the resurgence.”

Expansion requires the right people and Key Equipment recently welcomed Stephen Brown, formerly the vice president of sales at Modern Group, to its sales and management team. Brown’s role will be instrumental in further developing Key Equipment’s crane and lifting business. With 35 years of experience in the tri-state market Brown is actively involved in all aspects of Key’s operations. There will be a continued emphasis on creating the region’s best source for rentals, service and sales of lifting equipment, the company said.

In August Key hosted a weeklong Mobile Crane Inspector’s course presented by the Crane Inspection and Certification Bureau. This course was well attended and Key is now offering mobile crane Inspections.

Brown, who coordinated the training and was excited with the results commented, “Key now offers our customers the unique combination of Pennsylvania CDL State Inspection and annual mobile crane inspection. We are a one-stop shop for our customers’ crane inspection and repair needs.”

As part of Brown’s role, he will be on board to work with customers on Key Equipment’s newest equipment line. Skyjack has recognized Key Equipment as an authorized dealer of booms, scissors and telescopic forklifts, including the VR and Zoom Boom products.

Skyjack’s continuation of the Ingersoll Rand “VR” telehandlers brings a proven performer into the Skyjack product group, and another quality option for Key’s customers, according to the company.

This past June marked Key’s third anniversary. Key’s Chairman of the Board, Al Funk, commented on the success so far and the vision for the future, “In three short years Key has emerged as one of the area’s leading providers of lift equipment. With a fleet of Broderson cranes, aerials, reach trucks and industrial forklifts, Key is equipped to handle a wide range of job-site requirements. We have built the business by working hard every day to satisfy our customers’ needs in a courteous and professional manner. Our combined industry knowledge sets us apart from other outfits that are just looking for a rental. Key’s focus on Lifting People and Materials will result in expanded offerings in truck cranes and specialty lift equipment and I look forward to seeing some old friends and meeting new people at our Oktoberfest Open House on October 21 at our Honeybrook facility.” CEG
