On July 11, Kirby-Smith Machinery Inc. hosted a chapter meeting and luncheon for members of the National Utility Contractors Association's (NUCA) Greater Kansas City chapter in Kansas City, Mo., as well as a fundraiser event for breast cancer awareness. At its appropriately-named "Diggin' for a Cure" event, Kirby-Smith officials presented a check for $2,000 to representatives of the Susan G. Komen Foundation affiliate for Kansas and Western Missouri along with handwritten notes of encouragement for women currently battling the disease.

Attendees were treated to free popcorn, cotton candy and other treats in addition to a variety of carnival games like a dunk tank, pink water balloon fight and toy axe throwing. Guests also enjoyed photo opportunities with LBX's "Pink-Belt" excavator and 2018 POWRi National Midget Champion Tucker Klaasmeyer. Sponsored by Kirby-Smith and LBX, Klaasmeyer said he is "super excited" to partner with the two companies.

Sales from "Diggin' for a Cure" t-shirts created specifically for the fundraiser brought in more than $1,000 for the Komen Foundation. CEG
