Bill Kretschmer recently was promoted to president of Binder Machinery Company, South Plainfield, New Jersey.
Kretschmer began his construction equipment sales career in Michigan in 1977 after working several years as a construction laborer for Conti Construction, formerly of New Providence.
Kretschmer joined Binder Machinery in 1979 as a sales representative for Bucyrus-Erie products.
With the addition of the Komatsu account in 1982, Kretschmer demonstrated that his sales skills were worthy of management consideration, and he was named sales manager in 1986.
Under the direction of Walt Binder, Bob Binder – who now is chairman – and former President Bill Morrison, Kretschmer was promoted to vice president of sales in 1991.
Through the construction recession in the early 1990s until this year, Kretschmer maintained the vice president of sales position as well as working as sales manager and salesman in order to maintain customer relationships and increase sales for Binder Machinery Company.
During the past several years, Kretschmer became more involved in the service and parts aspects and overall operations of the company, which led to his promotion to president and COO of Binder Machinery Company.
Kretschmer credits his success with the company to the work ethic he learned from his father, as well as from Bob and Walt Binder.
He said he has been supported by his executive secretary Lorraine Roudi for 10 years, and by sales managers Kirk Chagnon and Scott Warren.
Kretschmer also credits his success to his wife of 20 years, Debbie Kretschmer, and their three children.
