It is capable of harvesting corn four to six times faster than typical combines. It is one of the largest and most technologically advanced combines available in the industry. And now, a Lexion 590R calls Robstown home.

Walter Priestly and Larry Hellman took delivery of the machine from Texas’ largest heavy equipment dealer, Holt CAT.

“Our last combine was a Lexion that we purchased from Holt CAT and we were impressed with its durability,” said Priestly. “This new machine is not just the biggest, it is the best in terms of harvesting capabilities, and we have high expectations.”

The Lexion 590R was introduced in August 2004 as part of the Lexion 500 series, available exclusively through Caterpillar dealers. This Class 9 machine is the largest of seven different models, ranging from the Class 6 to the Class 9.

Although several field prototypes have been produced in the United States for testing and display purposes, this combine is the first Class 9 machine to be purchased by a customer.

“The fact that the first machine of this class was sold in Texas is no surprise,” said Allyn Archer, president and CEO of Holt CAT. “Our customers want innovative products that get the job done quickly and efficiently. We meet those expectations by offering them the absolute best machinery and services to fit their needs.”

The Lexion 590R is equipped with the Caterpillar C-13, 462 hp (344 kW) engine featuring Caterpillar’s ACERT technology designed to meet Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 3 emission standards.

Capable of harvesting up to 80 bushels of corn per minute, it also features a Jet Stream cleaning system and advanced threshing and separation technologies for maximum harvesting capacity in all types of weather.

“I have been around different types of combines my entire life, but the Lexion 590R is the most efficient, reliable and productive combine I have ever been on,” said Holt CAT Sales Representative, Travis Burnett. “To be able to deliver the world’s largest machine to great customers like Walter and Larry is one of the most exciting times of my life.”

Holt CAT sells, rents and services Caterpillar machines, engines and generator sets in a 118-county Texas territory spanning from the Red River to the Rio Grande.

Holt also offers total machine rebuild capabilities, sells used equipment around the world and fabricates its own line of land clearing equipment and Holt Spray King water tankers.
