Linder Industrial Machinery Company will partner with its manufacturer, Komatsu, to sponsor the 2006 Grand Prix of Miami at Homestead-Miami Speedway March 25.

“We are thrilled to be part of the Miami races,” said Ken Holz, vice president of Linder’s south Florida operations. “The sponsorship is a terrific way for both companies to gain exposure in the racing world and throughout the Miami area. We are particularly pleased that Komatsu is joining us to sponsor the race.”

The Linder Industrial-Komatsu Grand Prix of Miami will feature the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve. The March 24 to 26 weekend also includes the IRL IndyCar Series in the Toyota Indy 300, plus the USAC Silver Crown Series and the IRL Indy Pro Series.

Popular south Florida drivers expected to race Daytona Prototypes are Christian Fittipaldi, who will join Indy 500 winner Eddie Cheever Jr. in the Crown Royal Crawford, and Oswaldo Negri of Michael Shank Racing. Several local teams, including Sunrise-based SpeedSource and the Goldin Brothers of Homestead, will race in the GT class.

Some of the world’s finest sports cars will be racing on the 2.3 mi., 11-turn course under the lights, driving Lexus, Porsche, Ford, Pontiac, BMW and Ferrari entries.

“We are pleased to have a south Florida company sponsor our world-class sports car race” said Curtis Gray, president of Homestead-Miami Speedway. “The Grand American Rolex Series is enjoying fantastic growth, and we welcome Linder and Komatsu to join us in what promises to be a thrilling weekend of racing.”

Competitors in the Toyota Indy 300 include female racecar driver Danica Patrick, two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves from Miami, 2004 IndyCar Series champion Tony Kanaan from Key Biscayne, and defending Toyota Indy 300 and Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon.
