Link-Belt’s 75 ton (70 t) TCC-750 was formally introduced in North America at Link-Belt’s CraneFest ’09 customer event on Sept. 28 through Oct. 1 at Link-Belt’s world headquarters in Lexington, Ky. The crane had previously been announced only in Europe.

The TCC-750, designed and built completely in Lexington, Ky., has received extremely strong interest from the market despite the current economic climate. Recently, ALL Erection & Crane Rental Co. purchased ten TCC-750’s for its fleet, according to Link-Belt.

“This model has gotten a lot of attention. Our customers are really interested in a reliable telecrawler. We’re sold well into 2010,” said Pat Collins, Link-Belt’s senior lattice boom product manager under whom the 750 falls. “The new options we’ve added will expand out telecrawler base.”

One of those new options, shown attached and stowed at CraneFest, was the Pengo hydraulic powered earth auger. The auger comes in two sizes: the RT-15 with a 17.8 cu. in. (293 cu cm) motor and 15,478 ft. lbs. (20,985.3 Nm) of torque, and the RT-20 with an 11.9 cu. in. (195 cu cm) and 22,662 ft. lbs. (30,725.5 Nm) of torque.

Also available as an option is a work platform.

The TCC-750 features a four-section, full-power formed boom with greaseless Teflon wear pads. The boom is 38 to 115 ft. (11.58 to 35.05 m) with a maximum tip height of 121 ft. (36.88 m). Optional equipment includes a 35 to 58 ft. (6.09 to 17.7 m), two-piece, on-board lattice fly with offsets of 2, 15, 30, and 45 degrees. The maximum boom and jib length is 121 ft. plus 58 ft. for 179 ft. (36.88 m plus 17.67 m for 54.55 m). Link-Belt’s “A” boom mode offers increased capacities for short radii, while the standard “B” mode extends all four sections equally for extended reach. The quick reeve boom head and lightweight nylon head sheaves reduce weight and make rigging easy. A hammerhead boom nose allows the operator to work at high boom angles.

Special on the TCC-750 is the completely sealed lower and hydraulically retractable side frames for easy, fast transport. The largest telecrawler that can transport with its tracks attached at under 100,000 lbs. (45,359.2 kg), the 750 moves in either one or two loads depending on local restrictions. The retracted gauge, good for transport or work, is 8.4 ft. (2.56 m). Once on the job, two additional working modes at 11.9 ft. (3.63 m) and, fully extended, at 14 ft. (4.27 m) give added versatility to this mobile rig. With 36 in. (91.4 cm) triple grouser track pads and a retracted boom, this rig can easily navigate difficult terrain.
