 The OilQuick quick coupler system enables operators to change over quickly between various mechanical and hydraulic attachments from inside the cab. Demonstrations at the show were provided by OilQuick USA Division Manager Jason Johnson.
 Working the Quality Equipment demo was sales and service team member Jeff Doege with the company’s Wacker Neuson lineup on hand. Quality Equipment is based in Shakopee, Minn.
 Joe Fairbanks of Olson Power & Equipment, North Branch, one of Minnesota’s premier Kubota dealers, was on hand as attendees gave the Kubota lineup a spin, like this KX040-4 compact excavator.  Grant Stebakken, a high school student in Baudette, Minn., jumped into this Tri-State Bobcat T595. He is interested in joining the National Guard to run equipment like this for the United States, he said.

 The “Sandbox Area” at the New Iron Expo featured many indoor displays. The area is used for trenching and underground boring and utility training for students at the 49ers Operators Union in Hinckley, Minn.
 Running the Komatsu PC 360LGi excavator from Road Machinery & Supplies was Operator Scott Ulsby of S&T Machinery, Clear Lake, Minn.  
 Jeddiah Maack, future 49ers equipment operator, accompanied his grandfather and retired 49er, Mike Alm.

 Pauline and Harlan Hecksel, owners and founders of HH Fabrication & Repair LLC, started with a simple idea … manufacture high-quality skid steer attachments at the lowest price. Today, the company manufactures more than 30 different attachments for skid steers, tractor loaders and telehandlers.
 A huge 400-plus acre facility allowed for equipment of all sizes — from high reach cranes to dozers, excavators, pavers and underground equipment — to be used for training purposes.  The Hayden Murphy booth showcased this new Manitou MRT-X 2540 Privilege Plus. This crane’s high tonnage capacity allows it to lift 8,800 lbs. up to 80 ft. in height.

 The Quality Equipment demo area had Xtreme Manufacturing Product Representative Rocco Frucci of Henderson, Nev., on hand to enjoy Minnesota’s balmy early April weather. Hayden Murphy of Bloomington, Minn., had a Manitowoc 10000 on site that was used for pylon training. The Manitowoc 10000 crawler crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 100 tons and a 200-ft. heavy lift boom. It also has a 250-ft. fixed jib and 250-ft. luffing jib.

More than 750 people attended the New Iron Expo April 3 to 5 in Hinckley, Minn.

The event was held at the Local 49 Training Center Facility, where the union trains more than 5,000 Local 49 union members in the heavy equipment industry each year. Many regional equipment dealers and national construction equipment manufacturers had displays where attendees could learn about the latest technology and equipment the industry has to offer.
