The Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association (MITA) held its annual conference and trade show Jan. 19 to 21 at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mount Pleasant, Mich. As a state wide association focused on Michigan’s road and bridge, sewer and water, utility, railroad, excavation and specialty construction, MITA represents nearly 600 Michigan companies throughout the state.

The theme for this year’s event was “The Road Ahead – Surviving or Thriving in Michigan.” Keynote speaker, Timothy Galarnyk, host of the History Channel’s “Inspector America,” offered insights gained from more than 35 years of experience as an infrastructure safety inspector.

Breakout sessions were conducted over the course of the three-day event, including MDOT Focus Groups, a MIOSHA activity report and conferences focused on topics such as the dynamics of health care reform and innovations to ease contract management.

Major event sponsors included AIS Construction Equipment, ALTA Equipment Company and Michigan CAT.
