MacAllister Machinery’s new headquarters is located just west of I-465 at 6300 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203. The company’s 30,000-sq.-ft. heavy equipment shop houses 22 bays; nine of which are 60 by 60 ft. super bays.
The paint booth is large enough to house a Cat D11 and features an overhead crane with a unique crane slot to position oversized items.
The main lobby’s staircase showcases the facilities’ overall American Arts and Crafts style and the floor is constructed of pine wood blocks reminiscent of Caterpillar’s factory floor from years ago.
The employee cafeteria features custom built tables designed to resemble old machinery parts.
Portions of the main lobby will serve as MacAllister Machinery’s “museum” where they plan to showcase old tractors and memorabilia from the dealership’s 76-year-old history.
The company’s 55,000-sq.-ft. parts warehouse stocks 40,000 line items and is designed for quick and efficient access to parts.

Customers visiting MacAllister Machinery's recently opened headquarters facility on the southeast side of Indianapolis are in for an experience that blends the old with the new.

While the dealership's clientele will be greeted by the same MacAllister employees they've worked with over the years and find the familiar lineup of Caterpillar machines and equipment from the dealership's many other lines, they also will experience a new facility equipped for outstanding service and efficiency. In regard to the “old,” the architectural design of the new headquarters location references the company and region's history while housing the latest office, retail and service technologies.

With 360,000 sq. ft. under roof and situated on a 132-acre site, just west of I-465 at the I-74 Southeastern Ave. exit, the facility harkens back to the American Arts and Crafts style combined with elements of Mission Style from the early 20th century. The main lobby provides a prime example of the new building's homage to the past with a floor constructed of pine wood blocks based on Caterpillar's original factory floor in Peoria.

The new location introduces a new concept at MacAllister Machinery —locating its parts, light and heavy equipment rentals, power systems and novelty retail operations in a 12,490 sq. ft. retail center — making it the only Cat dealer in the world with this type of setup. Also unique to the new headquarters location are an onsite gym with a personal trainer, medical clinic and pharmacy staffed by medical professionals available to its employees.

The new location separates its service facilities into two primary operations consisting of a heavy equipment shop and light equipment shop. The company's 30,000 sq. ft. heavy equipment shop contains 22 bays; 9 being 60 by 60 ft. super bays, 14 for heavy equipment (including new machine, heavy rental service, and used equipment service), three bays for truck service, and dedicated bays for the heavy equipment paint booth, track shop, welding, cylinder and hydraulic shop. The paint booth is large enough to house a Cat D11 and features an overhead crane with a unique crane slot to maneuver oversized items.

The light equipment shop contains 26 fully equipped service bays used for smaller equipment as skid steers, MacAllister's Kubota line, and mowers. It is shared with power systems and rental services for service and inside storage of equipment.

The wash facility is located in a stand-alone building, which is heated for year-around use and features a water recycling system for efficient use of resources. In addition to the primary service shops, the new headquarters also maintains a separate learning center with a fully operational service bay and classroom.

The headquarters' 55,000 sq. ft. parts warehouse stocks 40,000 line items and includes an automated Kardex carousel system to expedite delivery of 20,000 smaller line items. The warehouse is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is open 20 hours a day 5 days a week, as well as Saturday hours.

The property surrounding the new facility has received extensive landscaping with 999 trees planted, 3 million sq. ft. of seeded meadow 6 and-a-half acres of ponds and a 1.3 mile walking path for employees. The new site also includes 19 acres of machine parking space and used 25,936 cu. yds. of concrete to keep machines out of the mud.

The new headquarters' address is 6300 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203. While there are 400 to 500 company employees based out of the Indianapolis area, 250 work at the new headquarters facility on a daily basis. In all, the company employs nearly 1,000 statewide.

Currently led by Chris MacAllister and in its third generation of family ownership, the privately-held company was established in 1945 and is Indiana's authorized Caterpillar dealer for Indiana. The MacAllister family acquired Michigan Cat in 2011 adding an additional six full service locations within the lower Michigan peninsula.
