Mack Trucks refuse customers who want to help improve the safety of their drivers and others on the road can now order the Lytx DriveCam and Lytx Video Services pre-wire option. The factory-installed wiring system enables the customer to simply plug-in the Lytx event recorder, reducing installation costs and streamlining the purchase.

Mack made the announcement during the Canadian Waste and Recycling Expo Oct. 24 to 25 at the Enercare Centre in Toronto.

The pre-wire option will be available for the Mack LR, TerraPro and Granite models. Mack and Lytx, the global leader in video telematics, announced their partnership in October 2017.

“The availability of the pre-wire option enables Mack to offer yet even more features to enhance the safety of our customers and those in the neighborhoods in which our customers' vehicles operate, mitigating the potential for accidents,” said David Pardue, vice president of connected vehicles and uptime services of Mack Trucks. “We are pleased that this option is now available for order.”

The Lytx DriveCam safety program can help reduce unsafe driving behaviors through video-based driver coaching and predictive analytics. When combined with Lytx Video Services, which delivers features like on-demand continually recorded video, optional live stream and support for multiple cameras, clients can go beyond safety to help eliminate fleet and operations blind spots that keep them from being their most efficient, productive and profitable.

Fleets can, for example, use video to identify new and overlooked revenue opportunities such as overflowing bins or to provide video confirmation, such as proof of service or delivery verification.
