Montreal-based Major Wire Industries Ltd. is holding educational customer screening seminars across North America to celebrate its 125th anniversary as a manufacturer and supplier of screen media. Major Wire and its authorized dealer network are jointly conducting free “Screen Maintenance Simplified” seminars to help producers and contractors run their screening operations more efficiently and save on maintenance costs. As of May 1, 2009, more than 35 seminars had taken place involving more than 700 producer personnel from both large and small quarries and sand and gravel operations.
Founded in 1884, Major Wire is still an independently owned company that provides screen media solutions for aggregate, recycle, mining, asphalt, coal and green waste producers and contractors throughout North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
“Major Wire has been very fortunate over the past 125 years to have great customers worldwide that value our high-performance screen media solutions,” said Jean Leblond, president/CEO and owner of Major Wire Industries Ltd. and Major Wire Screen Media Ltd. based near Seattle, Wash. “Our customers take advantage of our extensive expertise to help them be more productive and appreciate our strong customer service involving both a highly skilled and authorized local distributor network, as well as a dedicated internal sales support group.”
Since Jean Leblond purchased Major Wire in 1990, the company has grown from a mostly regional company to an international industry leader. With manufacturing and cut and hook facilities across North America and worldwide, Major Wire has the resources to provide customers with short lead times and a product with a high return on investment, according to the company.
Major Wire’s most recent innovations include Flex-Mat 3 for traditional and flat-deck screens and OptimumWire woven wire screen media. The company’s most popular innovation, Flex-Mat technology, was first pioneered in 1996 to provide the industry with a significant advancement in screening performance: a non-woven, self-cleaning screen media that significantly increases material production while greatly reducing or eliminating blinding, pegging or clogging. This technology has increased screening efficiency in more than 15,000 operations worldwide. Its independently vibrating wires, bonded in place with lime green polyurethane strips, better separate material and increase throughput on screen boxes of all types. Recently, Major Wire also innovated a Flex-Mat solution for flat-deck polyurethane and rubber screens. It combines the efficiency and performance of Flex-Mat technology with the easy installation of polyurethane and rubber panels to eliminate screening problems on flat-surface screen decks, according to the company.
An alternative to traditional woven wire, OptimumWire high-performance woven wire screen media has proven characteristics of high strength and resistance to abrasion. It provides up to 40 percent longer wear life against hard drawn high-carbon wire of the same diameter.
Founded in 1884, Major Wire Industries Limited designs, manufactures and markets screening solutions, including Flex-Mat 3 High-Performance, Self-Cleaning Screen Media for traditional and flat-deck screens; OptimumWire woven tempered and stainless steel wire cloth; and polyurethane panels for the quarry, mining, recycling, road building, green waste, top soil and industrial markets. Major Wire is ISO 9001:2008 registered.
