Manitou, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of rough terrain construction and agricultural equipment, announced two new additions to its U.S. product line: the MT 6642 and the MT 8044.
The MT 6642 telescopic handler has 42 ft. of lift height with a rated operating capacity of 6,600 lbs. The larger of the two, the MT 8044, will lift 7,000 lb. to the full lift height of 44 ft., and 8,000 lbs. to 37 ft.
Both models feature a welded box-section design boom making them one of the strongest on the market. Increased operating capacities are achieved without the use of stabilizers or fluid-filled tires, although for added stability, stabilizers are an optional feature.
Also optional on the MT 6642 and MT 8044 models is a Work Platform System (WPS) that allows the use of ANSI/ASME B56.6-compliant work platforms offering even more versatility.
Rear axle stabilization is provided on the new MT Series machines, which improves stability when the boom is raised more than 60 degrees; when the parking brake is applied; or when the WPS is activated.
Other design features include a rugged frame with reinforced C-channels, internal wet disc brakes for longer life and better stopping capability and a negative (spring-applied, hydraulically-released) parking brake system. The negative parking brake applies automatically when the engine is shut off, or manually by pressing a rocker switch.
The operator compartment provides pilot-assisted controls that are easy to reach and operate, optimizing operator accuracy and efficiency. The view from the cab is a full 360 degrees. For applications that require operator protection from the weather, an optional enclosed cab with front and rear windows and a heater/defroster is available.
Other options include a suspension seat, a transmission declutch feature and a work light package.
The two new additions to the MT Series offer John Deere turbocharged diesel engines. The MT 6642 is available with either 99 or 115 hp. The MT 8044 comes standard with the 115 hp engine with automatic engine shutdown protection.
Other standard features include a three-speed power-shift transmission, three steering modes and quick-attach mounting system.
The new Manitou MT Series Maniscopics bring further depth to the broadest range of telescopic handlers in the North America market.
