The Minnesota Asphalt Pavement Association (MAPA) 2017 Quality and Construction Workshop was held on March 29 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center, Minn. There were a total of 200 registrations and 14 sponsor booths. Several door prizes from sponsors were given away to attendees.

This workshop is an exchange of technology and new developments in the asphalt pavement industry. The event was a great opportunity for networking, viewing new products, obtaining information and gaining insights into the upcoming construction season.

Topics presented included: 2017 legislative session; Minnesota Department of Transportation updates on specifications, state aid and research, safety in the work place, material uniformity, life cycle cost, thinlay, performance testing and intelligent compaction/infrared thermal bar and more.

Next year's workshop will be held at the same location on March 14, 2018.—CEG
