Martin Implement Sales hosted its seventh annual Stihl training event April 10 and 11 at the company's South Elgin, Ill., facility.

Martin Implement broke training into two segments, with chainsaw training on the first day, which covered proper usage, safety and some basic maintenance; and basic maintenance training on all Stihl products on the second, which was a new segment that provided an overview of basic maintenance for all Stihl products.

Andrew Guetler, Midwest Stihl's technical sales specialist, led the training.

"A big ‘thank you' to Martin Implement for another great spring open house," Guetler said. "We had a large turnout both days with several large local municipalities and landscapers. I had a lot of good questions regarding safety and maintenance regarding Stihl equipment."

In addition, Dave Prinzi, Martin Implements' territory manager, was on hand to demo many Stihl products, including a line of new battery-operated products and the MS462 chainsaw.

"Thank you for having our crew at your event," said Dennis Doherty, grounds coordinator of Elgin Community College. "It's nice you guys are thinking of us and our safety. It's a lot of work to put on events like this at [the] store. Andrew Guetler did a great job. Martin Implement is [our] go-to store; they always go the extra yard for us."

More than 170 attendees, many from municipalities, took advantage of the training sessions, making this the largest turnout in the event's history.

Other highlights of the event included a lunch, door prizes and the chance for attendees to see new products, including the Toro TXL2000 Dingo.

Besides Stihl, Martin Implement also is a dealer of New Holland Construction, Kubota, Hyundai, Toro and Scag. The company has three Illinois locations in Orland Park, South Elgin and Wauconda to service its customers.
