“The Governor's investment in communities throughout Minnesota will help our cities continue to be great places to live and work. When the state and local governments partner together to preserve our infrastructure and spur economic development, Minnesota prospers.

“I thank Governor Dayton for his leadership in investing in the future of Minneapolis and the future of communities throughout Minnesota. Together, we will ensure our state remains a thriving and growing place for residents, business and visitors.

“The investment of $25 million in state resources to help reconstruct the intersection of I-35W and Lake Street will bring vital infrastructure improvements for drivers, transit riders and pedestrians coming to Minneapolis from throughout the metropolitan area, and bring Minneapolis residents to new opportunities in neighboring communities. The project is essential to the advancement of the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, which will bring high-speed transit service from Burnsville to Minneapolis—increasing access to jobs, business and educational opportunities for thousands of Minnesotans.

“The Governor's proposed investment of $70 million to the Local Bridge Program demonstrates that he understands the critical infrastructure needs of communities throughout Minnesota. In Minneapolis, the repair of the 10th Avenue Bridge will help ensure this key connection between downtown Minneapolis to the University of Minnesota is preserved for the next generation.

“Minneapolis is proud to be the home of the Regional Emergency Operations and Training Facility, which serves as a hub for first responder and emergency preparedness training for over two dozen agencies from throughout Minnesota. The Governor's investment of $2.5 million to enhance our current capacities will allow our Minnesota first responders to hone their skills in rail disaster, structural collapse, and urban search and rescue.”
