The Construction Association of Michigan's (CAM) annual Michigan Construction & Design Trade Show returned to the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit Feb. 5.
In addition to the trade show, the association held its 133nd Annual Meeting and a presentation of awards from CAM Magazine, including the Construction Project of the Year Award.
The meeting's keynote speaker was Sammy Lee Davis, author of "You Don't Lose 'til You Quit Trying; Lessons on Adversity and Victory from a Vietnam Veteran and Medal of Honor Recipient."
The event attracted industry professionals from many of Michigan's leading construction companies and architectural and engineering firms.
A new feature of the show was a series of free workshops conducted by Spark Business Works, a Michigan-based software development company, which included a session with Renard Richmond, the new construction outreach manager of the city of Detroit, and a review of mobile apps presented by Bob Kernen of jācapps.
According to Rob Riegel, CAM's manager of expositions, exhibit space for the trade show was sold out, with nearly 100 vendors presenting the latest in industry-related services, products and equipment innovations.
As one of North America's oldest and largest construction associations, CAM's roots stretch back to 1885, when it was originally founded as the Builders Exchange of Detroit and Michigan. Based in Bloomfield Hills, the association is dedicated to serving Michigan's general and specialty contractors, subcontractors, equipment and material suppliers and service providers including design firms and legal and financial institutions.
