On Jan. 27, Messick’s held a skid steer seminar as part of a week-long series of events at its Elizabethtown, PA, facility.

During the event, John Rutt, New Holland Construction district service manager, led a presentation on his company’s new .B Series skid steers, including the LS180.B, LS185.B and LS190.B, for guests.

The presentation also included a clinic on preventative maintenance on the new generation “emissionized” engines, as well as a discussion on the new technology in oil and filters, which lengthens the intervals between oil changes. A question and answer session followed the presentation.

Earl Kauffman of Messick’s was please with both the turnout and the opportunity to meet with customers.

“Over the past 53 years, our clinics held during the winter months have brought the most positive response from our construction and agricultural customers,” he said. “These free seminars give customers time to ask questions and to hear ideas on equipment use and care from peers as well as experts. There is no greater joy than hearing customers get excited about their new machines and how to use them.”

But for Messick’s Dan Fitzkee, who doubles as the company’s in-house caterer for these events, food is the best gauge to a successful event.

“The real way to know if the open house or seminar was a success is to figure out how many hot dogs were eaten,” he said. “And over the course of the week, 25 cases, or 2,400 hot dogs were served.”

Messick’s, with locations in Elizabethtown and Abbottstown, PA, is a dealer for more than 200 brands of equipment, including New Holland, Kubota, Bush Hog and Stihl, to name just a few.
