Metrac Inc. has more than doubled the size of its location in eastern Georgia.

The 28,500-sq.-ft. facility sits on 10 acres in Grovetown, Ga., near Interstate 20. It replaces the company’s previous location in Augusta.

The service department has eight double bays (for 16 work areas) with two 10.5-ton and two 7.5-ton overhead cranes. Additionally, it has a large welding bay and a rebuild room for engines and major components.

Operations Manager Todd Ingram said Metrac outgrew the old location, both in the number of machines they sell and the size of the newer machines.

The new facility, which employs 27 people, opened Nov. 5. Ingram said it will allow for additional room for equipment displays and additional employees, should the need arise in the future.

He said customers have commented on the size of the facility and how well it was constructed. The contractor was Kuhlke Construction and Associates of Augusta, Ga.

“People feel more comfortable bringing their equipment in,” Ingram said. CEG Staff
