Mike Angus has been appointed distributor principal of Cummins Western Canada effective January 2010.

Angus joined Cummins in 1976 as an account representative for the automotive business. Over the next 10 years, he advanced rapidly through several roles including senior account manager — industrial business; manager — technical marketing; and regional manager — automotive and industrial.

In 1986, Angus became president and CEO of The Eagle Companies, a wholesale millwork and supplies distributor. In this role, he substantially improved the company’s operating results by achieving 30 percent sales growth, increasing inventory turns and reducing accounts receivable. Additionally, he led the implementation of a new IT system and shaped the corporate culture to be consistently customer-led.

In 1990, Angus returned to the Cummins family, joining Cummins Northern Illinois as vice president — marketing and sales. His leadership was key in improving financial performance, increasing market share and introducing customer support excellence, according to the company.

He became vice president and general manager in 2002, a position he continued to hold after Cummins Northern Illinois merged with two other distributors to form Cummins NPower. During his time at NPower, he was instrumental in the business’s success in exceeding financial targets, implementing process improvements and creating customer solutions.

Angus received the Chairman’s Award for his Six Sigma project that resulted in more than $1 million of profit improvement. He currently serves as co-chair of the Filtration Council.
