Milton CAT held a groundbreaking ceremony Oct. 27 at the future location of its North Reading, Mass., location.

The new facility will be located just off I-93, Exit 39 at 84 Concord St., and will service Milton CAT customers throughout the region.

This is the eighth new Milton CAT facility built in the past 25 years and the company’s thirteenth location throughout its Northeastern territory. The facility is expected to be fully enclosed by the end of December and open for business during the summer of 2012. The new facility includes parts and service departments, and in addition, field service technicians and trucks will be dispatched directly from this new location.

“The North Reading facility has been designed and constructed to be as environmentally friendly as possible,” said Chris Milton, president of Milton CAT. “A concrete structure that already existed on the property was torn down and recycled on site with the building being crushed and turned into needed aggregate material. A water recycling system has been designed so that all contaminated waters in the service area and wash bays are collected and cleaned and radiant floor heating is being used to heat the facility as efficiently as possible.”

Vice President of Machine Sales Dave Perry said that “A physical north shore presence will allow us to better deliver to area job sites the value that our customers depend on. We have been looking forward to this day and we are very excited.”

Milton CAT was originally founded in 1960 as Jordan Milton Equipment serving New Hampshire and Vermont and today sells, rents and services Caterpillar equipment and engines along with complementary product lines such as Genie aerial lifts, Sullair compressors, Metso and Erin screeners and Hartl crushers throughout the Northeast.
