Mitchell Distributing Company began operating under the new name Linder Industrial Machinery Company.

While Linder purchased Mitchell approximately two years ago the Mitchell name was not changed until July 1.

New signs have gone up at its locations in Asheville, Charlotte, Raleigh, High Point and Wilmington, NC, as well as Greenville and Columbia, SC. Its service centers in North Charleston, Ridgeland and Conway, SC, and Wilmington, NC, will also operate under the Linder name.

The name change was celebrated with barbecues at all of their locations throughout the Carolinas.

A new full-service facility, set to open later this year, is currently under construction along Highway 101 in Greer, SC. It will have an eight-bay shop, including a track press and wash facility.

“Although Linder and Mitchell both have fine reputations, the combined company is greater that the two individual companies,” said Linder President Jeff Cox in the July issue of Linder Link, the company’s magazine. “We want to take advantage of the synergy we have created by identifying it as one company with one brand name that reflects our three-state operation.”

Cox said his company’s customers will soon see the benefits of increased parts availability through a central operation.

“Having a central parts operation will give us overnight availability across all our branches,” he is quoted as saying. “We have stocked each branch with a large number of parts and the central parts inventory complements each branch with overnight service.”

The South Carolina service centers were added to the line-up to replace the company’s Summerville location in an effort become more accessible to its customers.

The company employs approximately 400 people in all three states.

Linder represents the following lines: Komatsu dozers, wheel loaders, excavators and graders; Dressta dozers and loaders; Blaw-Knox pavers; Ingersoll-Rand rollers; Etnyre distributors; JRB couplers and attachments; Pemberton loader couplers and attachments; ESCO buckets; and Hensley Industries ground engaging tools.

The company is a member of the Komatsu Remarketing program, in which used equipment goes through an inspection by certified service technicians to obtain a classification.
