Construction Employment Increases, New Metals Tariffs Threaten Future Sector Job Gains
70% of metro areas are showing an increase in employment in the construction industry. This growth between January 2017 and January of this year, according to Associated General Contractors of America. However, Association officials are worried that this trend won't continue due to the new steel and aluminum tariffs may force contractors to pay more for materials and may dampen the demand for new construction.
NJDOT's Route 1 Project Cuts Travel Times, Improves Safety
Congestion relief is on it's way for thousands of drivers, thanks to some out-of-the-box thinking by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). During peak travel times, drivers will be allowed to use the shoulder of Route 1 as a travel lane. A test run has cut travel times for some commuters in half.
