Construction Equipment Guide

Modern Machinery has added Major Wire to its complete line of products for the aggregate, recycle, slag, coal, and green waste industries. This year Major Wire is celebrating 125 years of research and development to meet the needs of these industries.

Founded in 1884, by E.J. Major, and headquartered in Quebec, Canada, Major Wire Industries Limited initially manufactured wire fencing, safety screens, and other screening products. Over the years the company management has diversified its product offerings, and for the last 30 years has focused on providing various types of screen media and screening solutions specifically for the industry.

Since purchasing the company in 1990, current President Jean Leblond has significantly grown the business with several revolutionary new products including the Flex-Mat Self-Cleaning Screen Media, polyurethane screening systems, and the OptimumWire woven wire products.

The company’s newest offerings, Flex-Mat 3 and Flex-Thane, are proven products that will increase production, increase wear life, and eliminate blinding, pegging, and clogging. Flex-Mat 3 is not woven wire. Instead, polyurethane strips, centered on each screen deck crown bar support, allow individual wires to vibrate independently at different frequencies, preventing material from accumulating between wires as it typically does with woven wire. Flex-Mat 3 also has up to 30 percent more open area than comparable woven wire.

Modern Machinery, one of the largest Komatsu dealers in North America, has been selling and servicing heavy machinery since 1944. As the exclusive dealer for Komatsu in the Pacific Northwest, the company employs 370-plus workers in 11 locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Montana and Idaho plus a twelfth location in Russia. Modern Machinery also carries equipment from Allied, Atlas Copco, Kolberg-Pioneer and JCI, Cummins, Esco, Fleetguard, Hensley, Sennebogen, JRB, LeeBoy, Moxy, Timbco, Valmet Komatsu Forestry, Hamm, Precision Husky, Vögele and Wirtgen.
