More than 400 customers, vendors, friends and neighbors attended the Aug. 24 grand opening of Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co. Inc.’s Springfield, MO, branch.

Murphy Tractor corporate officers and local staff welcomed the crowd in new service bays with doors that opened to the clear sky.

Surrounded by polished construction equipment and seated at linen covered tables, visitors were served lunch by a local caterer.

Hundreds of door prizes and gifts were given out as guests browsed the parts department and visited the sales showroom.

Branch Manager Bill Shank and his staff were on hand to provide tours and demonstrations.

They showcased the new John Deere D Series excavators, 950J crawler dozer, and other equipment Murphy Tractor offers. Representatives from many manufacturers also were present to answer questions and enjoy the festivities.

Murphy Tractor has served customers in Springfield since 2001, and in January 2006 began construction of a new 25,200 sq. ft. facility, relocating to 1401 State Hwy MM.

In just six short months the construction was complete, and the Springfield staff moved into the new building.

The structure features large interior parts and equipment sales departments as well as a vast outdoor heavy equipment yard.

More than 15,000 sq. ft. of the new space is dedicated to the service center that features eight service bays, a technical center staffed with a designated parts person, a new “library” system tool room and many other amenities.

“The construction of this new facility demonstrates to our current and future customers the commitment we have made, and will make, to provide the best in after sales support available. We look forward to continuing our growth in Southwest Missouri and sincerely thank all our customers for their ongoing support,” said Tom Udland, president of Murphy Tractor.
