The board of directors of the National Utility Contractors Association of Metro DC's Foundation for Education (the Foundation) announced the recipients of its 2024 scholarships.

The Foundation was launched in 2017 to support young leaders interested in the construction and utility excavation industries. The scholarship program supports our strategic goal of ensuring the continuing legacy of professionals in the utility construction workforce. The Foundation annually awards academic scholarships to rising high school seniors, current college, graduate or vocational tech school students. Scholarship awardees are represented in all academic backgrounds. Pursuing a field of study relevant to the construction industry is a plus. The scholarship is funded by the generosity of its members throughout the year.

Gabriel Santos, president of Blueridge of DC, and president of NUCA of DC and the Foundation said, "We are very proud of the students who were awarded the scholarships and wish them well in their studies."

"While not all are going into the utilities and construction industry, it is an honor to help our members and their families with financial support in their pursuit of continuing education, said Christy Walika, executive director of NUCA of Metro DC.

This year, the Foundation had the most applications since its inception.
