The new Fuchs MHL320 F material handler boasts a compact yet powerful design.

Built for efficiently tackling a range of indoor and outdoor applications from municipal solid waste processing to small scrap yards, the new Fuchs MHL320 F material handler boasts a compact yet powerful design. With an 11% more powerful engine and offering the same features found on larger Fuchs handlers, this versatile 50,485-lb (22.9-t) MHL320 F handler is the perfect entry level unit for operations who need the high lift capacities at extended reaches, efficient sorting capabilities and fast trailer loading/unloading only delivered by purpose-built handlers.

The new MHL320 F handler features a fuel-efficient 127.4-hp (95-kW) diesel engine that meets Tier IV Final emissions standards. Passive regeneration of the diesel particulate filter ensures uninterrupted machine operation with lower fuel consumption than previous engine configurations. Three-stage engine operation allows the operator to fine-tune engine RPM to the application to further reduce fuel consumption.

New joystick steering for the MHL320 F handler greatly improves on-site maneuverability, significantly enhances operator visibility and substantially increases legroom to elevate operator comfort. A simple touch of the toggle switch located on the right-hand joystick efficiently controls left/right turning of the front axle. The standard dual solid rubber tire drive system offers a 30-degree steering angle to deliver a tight 22.9-ft (7-m) turning radius, so the compact handler nimbly maneuvers around obstacles. All-wheel drive and an oscillating rear axle deliver a 55% maximum gradeability and aid in efficiently navigating uneven terrain. A dual-speed transmission allows the machine to quickly move about the yard at speeds reaching 12.4 mph (20 km/h).

The Fuchs unique cooling system arrangement with two separate radiators lowers operating temperatures on the new MHL320 F handler, even when working in extreme heat. A single stacked radiator with temperature-controlled fan speed efficiently cools both the charge air and engine water, while a separate oil cooler with temperature-controlled fan lowers the operating temperature of the hydraulic system. Working in concert with the two-stage cooling system, large vent openings in the metal cowling increase airflow to the engine area to ensure the engine runs cooler. Standard reversing fans for the intercooler-water and oil cooler systems reduce radiator plugging, and subsequent overheating, enhancing cooling system performance when operating in extremely dusty applications.

The machine's centrally located double row slewing ring design delivers 360-degree maximum lift capacities, superior durability and sensitive response to operator commands. The hydraulic system's 76.6 gal/min (290 l/min) maximum flow and 5.2 psi (360-bar) maximum pressure deliver an upper carriage swing speed reaching 8 rpm, increasing jobsite productivity. Standard central lubrication for the upper carriage automatically lubricates all grease points to minimize machine maintenance.

Hydraulically elevating with standard cushioning system, the cab on the MHL320 F material handler offers a maximum eye-level operation of 17.4 ft (5.3 m) for maximum efficiency when loading/unloading high-wall trailers and stacking and sorting material. Its dual joysticks are configured specifically for material handling applications and control critical operating functions like steering, magnet, slewing brake and grapple slewing among other functions. The main 7.0-in (178-mm) Wide Video Graphics Array (WVGA) touchscreen display offers intuitive machine control for more efficient operation and shows video captured by the machine's standard rearview camera, which offers infrared monitoring for nighttime vision.

A central service platform on the upper carriage of the new MHL320 F handler, conveniently accessed by a fold-down ladder, substantially reduces maintenance time. Service technicians quickly access the engine, fuel and DEF fill points, hydraulic oil tank, and central lubrication system from the platform. Ground-level access to components such as the engine and hydraulic oil coolers further increase machine uptime. Optional Fuchs Telematics provides automated all-in-one machine management for customers to further optimize machine efficiency, control operating costs and improve uptime by alerting key individuals of upcoming service intervals and potential machine issues.

Multiple Configurations

The new Fuchs MHL320 F material handler can be equipped with a number of boom and stick options to increase flexibility in meeting jobsite needs. Two straight dipper-stick options offer reaches of 31.2 and

34.1 ft (9.5 and 10.4 m), allowing the handler to pull material from a wide circumference around the machine to limit the number of times the material is handled, increasing machine efficiency. The available 30.2-ft (9.2-m) multipurpose stick configuration improves material sorting efficiency.

The standard all-wheel drive of the MHL320 F material handler can be equipped with a variety of stabilizer configurations to increase stability throughout the machine's range. Its modular undercarriage can be equipped with standard 4-point stabilizers for extra stability or 2-point outriggers with stabilizing blade, which can also be used for clearing paths. For maximum stability and versatility, the wheeled MHL320 F handler can be equipped with 4-point outriggers and leveling blade. For customers operating in unpaved yards with marginal ground conditions, a tracked crawler undercarriage is available to lower ground contact pressure and provide stabile operation.

For enclosed indoor operations, the diesel power unit of the MHL320 F handler can be replaced by an electric motor for emissions-free operation. The durable electric motor lowers long-term operating costs and reduces maintenance and service costs compared to the standard diesel engine. For applications requiring machine movements, the wheeled MHL320 F electric handler comes with a cable line length specified by the customer. If machine movement is not required, the upper carriage of the MHL320 F handler can be mounted as a stationary electric unit, further reducing operating and service costs.
