New PECO Inc., a manufacturer of lawn vacuums and outdoor power equipment, unveiled its TBB-3002 brush blazer. Featuring a 48-in. (122 cm) cut width, the Brush Blazer is the stand-alone solution between smaller-scale lawn units and large, commercial forestry attachments. The brush blazer can tackle trees up to 4 in. (10 cm) in diameter.

The brush blazer is an ideal tool for clearing underbrush and trees, performing trail maintenance, cleaning retention ponds or clearing right-of-ways. The unit also is ideal for hazardous vegetation management and wildfire prevention. It is available with a 28-hp Briggs & Stratton Vanguard or a 27-hp Kohler EFI engine

Filling a gap between small-scale units and large forestry equipment, the brusher blazer offers a mid-sized option with exceptional productivity, according to the manufacturer. In optimal cutting conditions, the brush blazer can clear up to six acres per day. The unit features a 5 gal. (18.9 L) tank that allows a run time ranging from four to six hours, depending on the job’s terrain and material.

The brush blazer’s rotary brush cutting system features two .5 in. (1.3 cm) thick steel discs, each with three hardened steel flail blades. The weight of the discs and the mass of the blades give the unit the strength and momentum needed to plow through tall grass, tough brush and woody material. The flail blades are easy to sharpen and are double sided for extra longevity.

PECO’s brush cutter features easy-to-use controls for smooth, safe operation. Two levers for speed and steering operate similar to a zero-turn mower. An operator presence safety switch requires pressure to run the engine, ensuring operator safety during use. The self-propelled unit has infinitely variable speeds up to 5 mph, making operation efficient and easy — even when clearing steep ditches or rough terrain.

The brush blazer features a hydrostatic track drive system for smooth, efficient operation in a variety of terrains and conditions. The track system and the front-end sled configuration provide traction while also ensuring stability when working on steep grades or slopes, according to the manufacturer.

Additionally, the track design minimizes the ground pressure of the 1,250-lb. unit to only three pounds per square inch, making it an effective tool for even the most sensitive areas. And, because it is relatively small and compact, the brush blazer is ideal for hard-to-reach areas where commercial attachments, skid steers or other equipment may be too large.

The brush blazer weighs 1,250 lb. (567 kg), is 59 in. (150 cm) wide and 96 in. (244 cm) long. It is easily transported on a standard landscape trailer or even in the bed of an 8-ft. pickup truck.

New PECO Inc. has been designing and manufacturing outdoor power equipment for more than 40 years.
