Wed February 13, 2019 - National Edition
NTEA

As part of an ongoing effort to support work truck industry employee education and training, NTEA has developed the first Truck Equipment 201 module. Truck Equipment 201 is intended as a series of online course modules, designed for those with a technical knowledge seeking a deeper understanding of certain topics.

"The first module in Truck Equipment 201 focuses on certification — a foundational subject vital to delivering high-quality, safe vehicles to market," said Susan Dehne, NTEA senior director of technical services. "The course conveys important and complex aspects of the process in a succinct way; it's a great educational resource for the work truck industry."

This vehicle certification module includes a review of U.S., Canadian and European Union certification processes and U.S./Canadian label requirements, as well as the influence of motor vehicle safety standards.

Truck Equipment 201 builds on the successful Truck Equipment 101 — an NTEA training program covering all aspects of work trucks and the industry — which launched in 2017. Made up of 15 online modules, Truck Equipment 101 provides insight into systems that make up a truck and basic regulatory requirements applicable to U.S. and Canadian markets. Details are available at ntea.com/te101.

There are no prerequisites to take the Truck Equipment 201 online course. To receive a certificate of completion, the learner is required to complete a brief quiz following each of the four sections, in addition to an evaluation at the end.

Truck Equipment 201 is available through the NTEA Learning Center platform, which brings together formal and informal knowledge, social learning, live on-site education and online events. After ordering the course through Shop NTEA, the learner gains access through ntea.com (members can use current login credentials). NTEA's team is ready to field any technical questions that arise.

The course is a free benefit to NTEA members and eligible for MVP credit and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through our accreditation by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. Nonmembers can purchase access for $49.

Workforce development is a top priority for NTEA. This topic will be emphasized at The Work Truck Show 2019 (March 5 to 8 in Indianapolis, Ind.). The educational program will address how to build, protect and differentiate your high-performance culture; master the art of accountability; create an environment and process to attract and train new workers; increase productivity, quality and profits with existing employees; and more.

Visit worktruckshow.com/workforcedevelopment to browse the many options and identify employee-specific training opportunities.

The Association's technical services team will be at NTEA's Booth 3400 (view staff schedule at worktruckshow.com/nteabooth), with live Truck Equipment 201 demos from 1–1:30 p.m. on March 6 and 2–2:30 p.m. on March 7. Get details and register to attend the Show at worktruckshow.com.
