Construction Equipment Guide

Palmer Johnson Power Systems has broken ground on its new 65,000-sq.-ft. headquarters in Sun Prairie, WI.

The expansion is a response to rapid growth of national transmission and axle remanufacturing programs. The concrete building is set on 10 acres on the eastern side of the Sun Prairie Business Park, 5 mi. east of Madison, WI.

The new facility, consisting of more than 50,000 sq. ft. of shop space, is designed specifically for heavy-duty transmission and axle remanufacturing and service. Palmer Johnson’s success in establishing national remanufacturing programs with OEMs such as John Deere, CNH and AGCO has filled the company’s current facility.

The new building also will house a 10,000-sq.-ft. machining center and Palmer Johnson’s administrative headquarters.

The company has retained design/build firm Design Structures of Madison and architect Potter Lawson of Madison. Completion date is projected as April 2006. The offices are designed to capitalize on the vista of the DNR-owned wildlife refuge, which is adjacent to Palmer Johnson’s site.

Palmer Johnson distributes, services and remanufactures heavy-duty off-highway transmissions and axles. The company operates 13 full sales and service branches stretching from the Midwest to California. The company represents manufactures including Twin Disc, ZF, AxleTech, Eaton, Funk and other leading transmission and axle manufacturers.
