Construction Equipment Guide

Parker Hannifin’s Hydraulic Pump Division (HPD) has added four new displacement sizes to its line of heavy-duty, fixed-displacement, piston-type bent-axis motors, expanding the product offering to a total of 14 different models.

The new units are the F11-12 with a displacement of 12.5 cu m/rev; the F11-14 with a displacement of 14.3 cu m/rev; the F12-90 with a displacement of 93 cu m/rev; and, the F12-125 with a displacement of 125 cu m/rev.

Bent-axis motors are a solution for hydraulic power applications that require high starting torque and high continuous operating speeds.

Like the existing units in the F11/F12 line, the new motors feature heavy-duty bearings that permit direct mounting of driven elements like propellers, fans, and pulleys. They also utilize Parker’s triple laminated piston rings to provide high efficiency and resistance to thermal shock, and lightweight pistons to reduce centrifugal force at high operating speeds.

These features, plus the compact design of Parker F11/F12 motors and the minimum number of moving parts used, gives them a high power-per-kilogram currently available, according to the manufacturer.

Bent-axis motors are widely used in mobile equipment as wheel and track drives; as mower and brush-cutter drives; as fan drives; to power saw heads; as generator drives; and, as turbine starters. Other applications include press and compactor drives, air seeders, press drives, and even pile drivers.

Parker’s Hydraulic Pump Division was formed in 2003 when Parker Hannifin acquired Denison Hydraulics. The division is a worldwide manufacturer of hydraulic components and systems for earthmoving and construction vehicles; for mining equipment; for pulp and paper, chemical and other processing equipment; for ships and ordnance equipment; and for such in-plant machines as machine tools, plastic molding, die casters, and stamping presses.
