When Kevin R. Ehst founded Ehst Information Services, a network integration company providing a full range of networking services and support, in 1998 he only dreamed about how quickly the company would grow. That dream is now a reality thanks, in part to the equipment he purchased from Giles & Ransome.

Working with businesses that need communication links to other sites, Ehst lays conduit for networking projects.

Ehst set out on an extensive research process to learn what type of equipment would best fit his clients’ needs. That process led him to a number of equipment manufacturers, including Caterpillar.

“The American build and design of Caterpillar equipment impressed me,” he said. “Once I decided on Caterpillar, I contacted Giles & Ransome, the local Cat dealer.”

Brendan Kelly, sales representative, Giles & Ransome, worked with Ehst, assessed his needs and suggested the Cat 302.5 mini-excavator, a machine that was capable of helping his business grow.

“We invited Kevin to the Bensalem branch of G&R to see the machine in action and to feel how it operates,” said Kelly. “Kevin’s impression was that the mini-excavator was more operator-friendly than other pieces of equipment he had tested. In fact, he had demonstrated the 302.5 and a competitive unit on the same job and was impressed with the smooth operation and hydraulics of the Cat. The mini-excavator is a small machine that was designed with a big machine feel.”

One of the benefits of the Cat 302.5 Kelly shared with Ehst is its versatility in applications such as building construction, landscaping and demolition. A variety of work tools are available for these applications, including digging buckets, ditch cleaning buckets, hydraulic hammers, augers, shears and crushers.

As the company grows, Ehst said the variety of work tools available for the 302.5 would allow him to adjust the unit based on the application. He may select or rent any tool to meet his job-site needs, without having to purchase additional pieces of equipment.

Ehst said his treatment by Kelly and the entire G&R team gave him confidence that customer support is a priority at Giles & Ransome. In fact, this individualized attention was a deciding factor in choosing G&R.

Kelly believes building this relationship with the customer is important.

“We are professional and responsive to all our customers whether they operate a large or small business. At Giles & Ransome, we are committed to helping all businesses develop, regardless of their size,” Kelly explained.

Giles & Ransome, a division of Giles & Ransome Inc., is the authorized distributor of Caterpillar heavy construction equipment in eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and northern Delaware. The company maintains branch locations in Bensalem, Fleetwood, Whitehall, and West Chester, PA; Bear, DE; and Hammonton and Toms River, NJ.
