Personnel Promotions Abound at Giles & Ransome

Giles & Ransome (G&R) has announced several promotions and the selection of its first two 6 Sigma Black Belts. The personnel changes include: Larry Hawes; Bill Rockelmann; Brent Losey; Carl Wanjek; Rich Dinn; and Lee Pearson.

• Larry Hawes has been promoted to the newly created position of manager of Marine Business of Ransome Engine, a division Giles & Ransome Inc., the Bensalem, PA-based Caterpillar dealer.

In this position, he will be responsible for the overall sales and profitability of all marine engine activity.

Hawes joined Ransome Engine in 2002 and applied his skills as a former self-employed consultant and a national sales manager for Egg Harbor Yachts.

• Bill Rockelmann has been promoted to the newly created position of manager of Industrial Engine Business of Ransome Engine.

In this position, he will oversee the operation of the new Perkins Master Distributorship, named Perkins Power Northeast.

Rockelmann also will be directly responsible for the sales of engines to all OEM accounts.

Prior to joining Ransome Engine in 2001 as a sales representative, Rockelmann worked for Nice Ball Bearings as a product manager. Additionally, he served as the Latin American sales manager of Hale Pump.

• Brent Losey has been promoted to the position of general manager, Parts and Service Operations.

In this new position, he will have complete responsibility for the construction division product support area.

Losey joined Giles & Ransome Inc. in July 2000 as general manager, operations development and in a short time was promoted to general manager, service operations.

Prior to working for G&R, Losey was a product support representative for six years with Caterpillar Inc.

• Carl Wanjek has been promoted to the position of chief financial officer of G&R.

In his new position, he will be responsible for managing the financial affairs of the corporation and will be head of the Information Technology Department as well as the Accounting Department.

Wanjek joined G&R in 1986 as an assistant controller and in 1990 was appointed corporate controller.

• Rich Dinn and Lee Pearson have been selected as the first two 6 Sigma Black Belts at G&R. 6 Sigma is a methodology that uses a set of strategies and statistics to improve business processes and customer service.

Dinn joined G&R in 1978 as a service technician and has held a number of positions in the service department including component shop supervisor.

He was promoted to DBS/DPI project manager in 2000 where his talents and leadership skills have proven him to be an invaluable member of the G&R team.

Pearson joined G&R in 2001 as a summer intern and worked in the service department as well as in the marketing department. Upon college graduation, Pearson accepted a position as a business analyst/inside salesperson in the marketing department.

Pearson, the son of a construction contractor, has extensive knowledge of the construction industry and is a skilled machine operator.
