Carolina Tractor and Pinnacle Cranes announced that Reed Owsley, vice president and general manager of Pinnacle Cranes, will be retiring from the company, effective December 31, 2010. Jim Mackinson has been named as Owsley’s successor and will join the company in early July.

Owsley has been a key member of the Carolina Tractor executive management team since joining the company in December 2001, when Carolina Tractor acquired the distribution rights for Link-Belt Cranes in the Carolinas. His crane-industry experience positioned him well to lead the crane division at Carolina Tractor. During his tenure with Pinnacle Cranes, Owsley has been responsible for managing all aspects of sales and service for the company.

“We appreciate the great contributions Reed has made to Carolina Tractor and Pinnacle Cranes,” Carolina Tractor President and CEO, Ed Weisiger Jr. announced. “Pinnacle Cranes, under Reed’s leadership, has been a consistent, high-performing area of our company and has been regularly recognized by Link-Belt Cranes for outstanding performance.”

Jim Mackinson will succeed Owsley as vice president and general manager of Pinnacle Cranes. Mackinson brings more than 28 years of industry experience to his new position at Pinnacle Cranes, most recently as president and CEO of Mackinson Crane, Middlesex, N.J., and Equipco Sales and Rental Corporation, Somerville, N.J.

“Jim’s relentless customer focus and entrepreneurial spirit will serve our customers and employees well,” Weisiger said. “We are pleased to have Jim join the Carolina Tractor senior management team.”

During this transitional period, Owsley will work to acquaint Mackinson with employees, customers and suppliers, as well as actively seeking opportunities with a number of national crane operators.

Mackinson participates in several crane industry associations; including the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association, Associated Equipment Distributors, and the Utility and Transportation Contractor’s Association.
