GORHAM, Maine (AP) Regional planners have awarded $9.9 million to transportation projects in Greater Portland that include improved sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes and traffic signals on Route 77 in Cape Elizabeth.

The Portland Area Comprehensive Transportation System announced the 13 awards after the agency and the Maine Department of Transportation reviewed 21 proposals.

At $2.7 million, the Cape Elizabeth project is the largest. Westbrook gets the second-largest sum, at $2.3 million, for part of Route 25 that skirts downtown.

Other grants included $2 million for various projects in Portland; $710,000 for Gorham; $570 million for Portland; more than $600,000 for Yarmouth; $473,000 for Biddeford; and $363,000 for Saco.
