Power Curbers Inc.’s newest addition to its product line is the 5500-B slipform paver for concrete curb-and-gutter, 81-centimeter (32 in.) barrier and sidewalk up to 1.5-meter (5 ft.) wide applications.
The 5500-B, the second machine in Power Curbers’ B series, is a high production machine with low operating costs. It is particularly efficient in small, tight areas.
At a weight of 6,679 kilograms (14,725 lbs.), it is 3,980 kilograms (8,775 lbs.) lighter than the other Power Curber slipformer in the B series, the 5700-B.
Traditionally, Power Curbers sets industry standards for curb-and-gutter slipform design, said Dyke Messinger, company president.
“The same high-quality engineering standards were used on the 5500-B as on our larger equipment.” It is designed for optimum maneuverability in tight areas.
The 5500-B offers slipform contractors the option of a less expensive machine as a second machine in their fleet, and it also offers hand-formers a less expensive entry into the slipform market.
The 5500-B comes equipped with a belt conveyor. It has a 76-centimeter (30 in.) wide trimmer with extensions up to 107 centimeters (42 in.) wide. It also has hydraulic side shift of up to 61 centimeters (24 in.) and 30 centimeters (12 in.) of vertical hydraulic lift.
The 5500-B pours barrier up to 81 centimeters (32 in.) tall. It will pour a 61-centimeter (2 ft.) radius.
Left-hand mounted molds that fit the 5700-B will fit the smaller, lighter 5500-B.
