Power Equipment Company hosted an Intelligent Machine Control Tech day at its Memphis, Tenn., branch location on March 18. At the core of the demo were the Komatsu "iMC" dozers and the PC210LCi-10 excavator. During the event, an informative presentation on data prep and building 3D models of a job site was presented by Glenn Etienne of Construction Engineering Solutions based in Leopold, Ind. Guided demos of the Komatsu Intelligent Control machines and "breakout" presentations of other available grade control items were provided.
Staff of Power Equipment cooked lunch. Afterwards, guests were given plenty of time to continue demoing the machines and were given one-on-one time with the Power Equipment staff.
Felix Rutledge, Rutledge Contractors, Tupelo, Miss., was quite impressed with the Komatsu D51PXi dozer with Intelligent Machine Control and was interested in purchasing the machine. He said that in addition to being a well-designed machine, he liked the accuracy of the machine and said it would take the guesswork completely out of grading on a job site. "As a paving contractor, these machines would give us complete control of a project and we wouldn't have to depend on anyone else to put the surface on grade for us. The machine could pay for itself in productivity and efficiency."
