Powerscreen of Florida is celebrating its 20th year of supplying screening, crushing, and conveying equipment to its customers in Florida, Georgia and the Caribbean. With offices in Miami and Lakeland, FL, and Atlanta, GA, Powerscreen of Florida offers a large fleet of new and used equipment for sale, rent or lease.
Richard Grant, vice president of Powerscreen of Florida, explained that the company’s average inventory is 150 pieces or approximately $15 million worth of equipment.
“We have a rental fleet of 150 machines, and a lot of our rentals convert to sales,” he said. “The rentals allow us to have a fleet of new and used equipment. We also have a wide range of machines to offer with different prices for various budgets.”
The company offers screening equipment manufactured by Powerscreen, a subsidiary of Terex Corp., including the Chieftain, Powergrid and Trommel, which all have the option of being track or wheel mounted. Powerscreen also offers the Titan 1800 screening plant that was introduced into the market in 2003.
“Currently, we have twenty in our rental fleet,” Grant said about the Titan 1800. “It has been very successful.”
One customer who has had success with the Titan screening equipment from Powerscreen is Downrite Engineering Corp., a Miami-based total land development company. Downrite is using two track-mounted Titans to clean up a site that was previously a landfill.
On another job site, Downrite is using a Powerscreen 1400 Warrior that can screen up to 550 tons (495 t) per hour. The Warrior also contains a hopper with a capacity of approximately 9 cu. yds. (6.8 cu m) and has a 109-hp Caterpillar engine.
Downrite Engineering also is using the BL-Pegson Trakpactor on various job sites. This particular model incorporates features including a 42 by 28 in. (107 by 71 cm) impact crusher with four reversible hammers, magnetic separator and dust suppression system.
The Gulf Stream Race Track in Hallandale, FL, is another of Powerscreen’s customers. The facility is renting four Chieftains to screen the material for the track for the upcoming race season.
According to Grant, the Seminole Indian Tribe of Florida also owns and rents various pieces of equipment for two of its reservations in the area.
“They have portable crushers, portable screenplants, and a static aggregate washing plant,” said Grant.
Powerscreen has roughly 20 crushers on hand, including track-mounted crushers made by BL-Pegson, a Terex product. Even though the company offers the full range of BL-Pegson Portable Crushers, it mainly stocks the Premiertrak Jaw Crusher and the Trakpactor Impact Crusher. Tesab wheel-mounted impactors also can be found in stock.
The screening products can be used for a variety of applications, including construction and demolition, yard waste, mulch, topsoil, sand, and gravel. The products also can be used for recycling and environmental applications.
In addition to screening and crushing products, Powerscreen offers conveying equipment and a full line of washing equipment that can be either static or portable types.
Once Powerscreen has sold or rented its equipment, the company offers parts, service and repair to its customers. The company’s service centers are located in Lakeland, Miami and Fort Myers, FL, and in Atlanta. The Lakeland branch has four on-site fully equipped service trucks, and the other service centers each have an on-site service truck. In addition to being a service center, the Atlanta location has an equipment service yard and a full service parts department. The Lakeland facility also has a full service parts department.
Since 1984, Powerscreen of Florida has been servicing a varied range of customers.
“Our customer base ranges from small pit operators to large developers to municipalities and counties,” Grant explained. “We do business with most of the quarries in Florida too. We plan to continue providing the level of service and commitment that our customers have come to expect –– hopefully for another 20 years.”
Powerscreen’s sister company, MGL Engineering Inc., also located in Lakeland, branched off five years ago. MGL offers custom made equipment such as washing plants, portable conveyors, and portable blending plants. They have also designed and manufactured C&D recycling systems for various customers throughout the Southeast.
