Precision Husky Corp. has introduced its 2300-4 portable flail debarking system.

The four-flail debarker weighs in at 96,000 lbs. (43,540 kg) with four flail drums. Each drum is reversible and infinitely variable. The unit is powered by a Caterpillar 580 hp (432 kW) C15 diesel engine.

According to Scott Smith, president of Precision Husky, the total feed system including all rolls also is reversible and infinitely variable. The system feeds multiple stems at 175 ft. (53 m) per minute with less than 0.3 percent bark content.

Smith said that while this system can process any type of softwood, it is specifically designed for the eucalyptus hardwood plantations.

The unit has a heavy-duty steel structure and is believed to be the highest producing flail debarker on the market today. It is designed to match the high-performance capabilities of the Precision Husky 2366 whole tree chipper.
