Prime Source boasts five core competencies, which have been key to its success.
Mon August 14, 2017 - Southeast Edition #17
Prime Source Parts & Equipment, a division of Carolina Tractor and Equipment Company (CTE), recently announced its expansion in the North Carolina market.
Prime Source was established in 2013 to offer sales and product support solutions, as well as aftermarket solutions for owners of mixed fleets of equipment and users engaged in non-traditional product applications.
Prime Source boasts five core competencies, which has been key to its success. These are:
Mike Tropsha of Carolina CAT, a division of CTE, said that the extent of the non-OEM product portfolio and the company's ability to source just about any type of component or part — whether it's new or used — are key aspects of Prime Source. This has proven to be popular with area contractors.
“Often, contractors with mixed fleets have to spend a lot of time working with various dealers just to find parts for their machines based on different brands, the locations of their dealers, various availability, etc.,” Tropsha said. “What we have to offer is the ability to source for multiple aftermarket vendors. We can offer one-stop shopping for our customers and the ability to obtain parts and service for their equipment.”
Due to strong demand, Prime Source Parts & Equipment has launched its newest one-stop shop in Statesville, N.C., on Barkley Road just off I-77.
Wayne Thompson, the general manager of Prime Source, leads the team. Thompson has years of experience both as an end user, working for a large regional contractor, as well as experience working for other OEM distributors, including John Deere and Komatsu. Under Thompson's leadership, several segments of Prime Source will continue to expand.
Tropsha said that CTE is organizing Prime Source around key segments, including the availability of parts and service, with a heavy focus on undercarriages, drilling parts and service and landfill compactor wheels.
“Also, our welders are able to recondition landfill compactor wheels, as well as used parts,” he said.
Prime Source also is getting into tailgates for articulated trucks, Tropsha added.
“On a 40-ton truck you usually get 3 to 5 tons of additional capacity with a tailgate,” he said. “The tailgates are Prime Source brand, which work for all makes of trucks, so whether it's a Volvo or any other brand, we are able to source tailgates and provide them for any size truck. We will also supply drill bits, hammers, couplings and drill pipe. We represent Boart Longyear, Mitsubishi, Rock Hog, Mincon and several other key drilling distributors.”
Tropsha said that in addition to the company's product portfolio and its experience in the industry, one of its key offerings to its customers are skilled technicians.
“Our technicians have years of experience in many fields, including undercarriage service, welding, equipment repair — in both the shop and in the field — as well as a tremendous amount of expertise in both drilling and the construction industry.”
